My [our] Story. {The very short version}

I was born and raised in the GTA of Ontario. Mediocre in the arts and obsessed with photography, which is what I ended up studying post secondary. Once I graduated, I decided I NEEDED to see the world. Like, my heart was calling me. I knew in my bones I wanted a change.

I moved to Australia by myself in April 2004 where I traveled up and down the coast picking up jobs and temporary homes along the way. I taught myself how to surf and continued taking photos for fun. I led a nomadic lifestyle, meeting life long friends along the way. After spending 6 weeks in Thailand, life brought me to the Western side of Canada. Thank you Caitlin Bryson, for letting me move into your 2 bedroom condo in Kelowna, British Columbia.

I continued to meet amazing people including  Shanti, who I spent almost a decade working for. She was the ultimate boss lady who inspired me to work hard and dream big. The connection we share is like no other and I’m certain we knew each other in past lives.

I met Andrew, my husband in 2007. We eventually realized we were meant to be together in September 2009, once he took a bus across Canada and went on his own adventure. We married in 2011 and swore we would travel somewhere “big”. ONE. DAY.

We moved 4x together and then Hattie-Mae was born in 2013 and Holden, almost 3 years and 3 houses later in 2016.

I decided I wasn’t going back to work and fell upon an opportunity in the beauty industry which led me to where I am today.

The amount of personal growth I’ve gone through in the last 2.5 years has been paramount. Like…. HOW did I stumble across this opportunity and how have I changed so much? I really didn’t think it was possible. I have done everything from reading self help type of books, developing my spiritual path to speaking in public. Ha! If you knew me in the past, you likely wouldn’t believe it. I was the girl who barely spoke because I was so shy.

One day in November 2018, I asked Andrew if he could find a job over seas. My heart wanted another change and it was about damn time we take our dream of travelling somewhere big to reality.

He came home with a list of BC offshore schools. We narrowed it down to 2 countries. Vietnam and Qatar. The school wasn’t finished being built in Vietnam so he interviewed for Qatar.

2 Skype interviews and less than a month later, he got the job.

He signed the contract.

We told the kids.

We moved. Again.

But this time we packed up all our shit and moved it into storage.

Then we flew across the country to stay with my family for 6.5 weeks and drop off Koston- our 9 year old Jack Russel/Chihuahua.

Our life is about to change in so many ways.

One thing I’ve learned about traveling is that you are put in situations out of your comfort zone.

This time, I won’t be alone. I can’t wait to experience this with Andrew and the kids.

I’m excited to share our journey in Doha.

Stay tuned. Xo, Kare.
